Established in 1924 as the Apex Cooperative Bank of Punjab, The Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Ltd. (PPCBL) has been a part of the province’s financial landscape for over a century. While its journey has been steady, the Bank has remained consistently focused on serving communities, supporting cooperative institutions, and adapting to changing economic needs. In 1955, PPCBL attained Scheduled Bank status, reinforcing its role within Punjab’s formal banking system. Rooted in cooperative values such as voluntary membership, democratic governance, mutual support, and financial self-reliance, PPCBL continues to operate with a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. Today, with a network of 151 branches across Punjab, the Bank delivers a wide spectrum of banking and credit services to cooperative societies as well as individual customers, while maintaining prudent financial management and regulatory discipline. A core focus of PPCBL has historically been agricultural financing, particularly through Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) at the village level. Over the decades, the Bank has contributed meaningfully to the economic development of Punjab by supporting farmers, small entrepreneurs, artisans, traders, and local businesses. Its financing has played a supportive role in the province’s green, white, and sweet revolutions, which reshaped Punjab’s agricultural and rural economy. As the central financing and coordinating institution for cooperative societies registered under the Cooperative Societies Act, 1925 and regulated by State Bank of Pakistan, PPCBL remains committed to strengthening the cooperative ecosystem as well as other communities related to economic development. Looking ahead, the Bank is focused on enhancing customer experience, expanding its range of products and services, and embracing modernization—while staying true to its cooperative roots.
