The Role

Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital is hiring an Optometrist at its Sukkur hospital to perform refraction and diagnostic eye examinations, prescribe vision aids and support patients before and after eye surgery.

•Perform both simple refraction and cycloplegic examination •Prescribe, fit and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses and other vision aids •Diagnose ocular disease •Provide advice to patients regarding vision and optical issues •Perform low vision assessment and provide rehabilitation services •Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors •Refer patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate •Provide care to patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as cataract and laser vision correction •Assist with procedures and provide pre and post supportive care •Follow established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, and continuous quality improvement •Prescribe vision therapy or orthoptic treatment to patients with strabismus and amblyopia •Advise and perform diagnostic tests/ procedures like A/ B-Scan, OCT, FFA, perimetry and corneal topography •Maintain infection control standards •Monitor and maintain all optometry equipment
