The Role
Shifa International Hospital (H-8, Islamabad) is hiring a Lab Technologist- Cytogenetics in its Laboratory department to perform cytogenetic investigations, chromosome analysis, karyotyping and FISH testing. The post is full time on all shifts (24/7); salary not disclosed.
•Perform cytogenetic investigations, including chromosome analysis and karyotyping •Perform and interpret FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) tests according to established protocols •Prepare, culture, harvest and process specimens for cytogenetic analysis •Analyze chromosome preparations and identify numerical and structural chromosomal abnormalities •Ensure accurate documentation, reporting and maintenance of laboratory records •Perform quality control procedures and comply with laboratory safety and quality standards •Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents and consumables as per established procedures •Follow applicable JCI, CAP, ISO and institutional laboratory standards •Coordinate with pathologists and other laboratory staff for timely and accurate processing of cases •Participate in internal quality assurance, proficiency testing and continuous improvement activities

Education, Experience and Skills Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (16 Years): Medical Laboratory Technology
Minimum 3 years of relevant post-degree experience in a reputable diagnostic laboratory, preferably with hands-on experience in cytogenetics, karyotyping and FISH Preferred: Experience in a CAP-accredited/ internationally accredited diagnostic laboratory will be an advantage
