The Role
Chief Operating Officer of the Aga Khan University Hospital, Stadium Road, Karachi, responsible for strategic, operational, financial and quality management of the hospital and reporting to the CEO, AKU-HS. International posting based in Karachi.
•Collaborate with the CEO and senior management to develop and execute strategic plans, and maintain a quality surveillance and improvement system •Oversee the daily operations of the hospital, including clinical and non-clinical departments •Develop and implement operational policies, procedures and standards •Work closely with the Chairs and Vice Chairs, Clinical to meet goals and develop alternative models of practice and referral links •Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality assurance, and monitor performance metrics to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction and safety •Represent the hospital at board meetings, donor functions and community forums, and build strong relationships with stakeholders •Anticipate the effect of technological advancements and market competition on the mix of services and amend strategies accordingly •Oversee the implementation of new technologies and systems, including effective use of electronic health records (EHR) and other IT systems •Craft strategic alliances with external organizations providing patient services •Manage the hospital's budget, ensure financial sustainability and implement cost-control measures •Foster a positive work environment and ensure compliance with HR policies and regulations •Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and compliance with healthcare regulations, local laws and accrediting bodies, and prepare for inspections and audits •Lead the hospital's response to emergencies and crises

Education, Experience and Skills Requirements
- Masters: Healthcare Administration, Business Administration
At least fifteen years of progressive leadership experience in reputed teaching health care institutions; proven track record of managing complex hospital operations Preferred: Experience of handling international affairs of global health care organizations
