The Role

Associate Professor (full-time, permanent) in the newly established Inclusive & Special Needs Education Unit at the Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (IED), Karachi. As an inaugural faculty member the candidate will lead the Unit's academic development, graduate programmes, research and engagement. Academic rank will be offered based on the candidate's profile.

•Design and lead a specialisation in Inclusive & Special Needs Education in the BEd programme •Design and lead inclusive education courses for graduate programmes including MPhil and PhD •Develop and facilitate Continuing Professional Education courses, diplomas and certification programmes for in-service educators •Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research •Participate in admissions, curriculum review, academic planning and University committees •Secure and lead research, publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences •Mentor team members on inclusion and disability-focused teaching and research •Organise seminars, workshops and conferences on special needs education •Engage with government bodies and education authorities to support policy advocacy •Build relationships with schools, parents, NGOs, government agencies and organisations working in neurodiversity and inclusive education
